Course objectives

The Course, aims to:

  • Offer students a qualified overview of the topics of current research in the fields of the neurophysiology and neurobiological bases of sleep and sleep-wake rhythm.
  • Offer students an overview of sleep disorders and sleep-wake rhythm alterations, including the technical aspects for the correct evaluation, discussion on the most common diseases and the new frontiers in sleep disorders diagnosis and treatment.

Course delivery

  • Frontal teaching (even web-based if needed)
  • Lectures will focus at first on physiological aspect of sleep and sleep-wake cycle, and then on the pathological aspects, including diagnosis and treatments. Video showing real sleep registrations will be discussed. Sleep analysis with dedicated software for clinical and research purposes will also be shown and discussed.
