To learn the up-to-date concepts about cardioprotection mechanisms and procedures

Program

  • Mechanisms of myocardial/ischemia reperfusion. Procedures and mechanisms of preconditioning, perconditioning and postconditioning. First and second window of protection. Remote conditioning.
  • Role of comorbidities. Parallelism with exercise.

  • Teaching tools: Power-point presentation, review and research articles on the topic
  • Methods: Frontal lecture and student presentations.

Short essay on one of the topic treated during the lectures:

  • Metabolic syndrome and cardioprotective manoeuvres
  • Inflammation and cardioprotective manouvres
  • Gender and response to cardioprotective manouvres
  • Redox system and cardiac ischemia reperfusion injuries
  • Novel cardioprotective approach
  • Remote conditioning
  • Antiplatelets and cardioprotection
  • Molecular mechanism of mitochondrial defense in the cardioprotection
  • Cardioprotection with beta-blockers
  • G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) and cardioprotection
  • Coronary circulation in cardioprotection

Reports must have the following characteristics: at least 5 pages and two figures, bibliography.
